Wowowow these past few days have been crazy and I haven’t really been able to blog much because we’re constantly doing something. There’s so much to write about but yet again we’re going on an excursion in 15 minutes so this is going to be a quick few summaries.
The first day we were here was the traditional Tianamen Square and Forbidden City tour(after 2 hours of class). I’m such a big city person so I love all the walking we’re doing, this city is a really cool mix of East Asian countries(Thailand comes to mind first), Soviet architecture, and Western consumerism. We’ve also visited the exhibition museum-it features a miniature leggo-like replica of the city-and it really shows how HUGE this city is. Something like 2/3ds of California’s population lives in the city of Beijing.
Yesterday was the Great Wall. No words can do it justice, but it definitely lives up to a “wonder of the world” status.
Also went out last night. Met the police of Hunan province. Except “police” in China are pretty much thugs who live off bribes. But it was a cool cultural immersion (with an unexpected pole dance show) and we yelled “gun bai” enough times that I feel I can communicate at least something in Chinese.
More on all of the above later.
